Tribhuvan University is the largest and the oldest university of Nepal. It is
situated in Kirtipur. The university was established in 1959 as the first
university of the country. It is the largest university in Nepal, With more than
150,000 students and faculty, this is the major university of Nepal.



There are institutes of medicine, engineering, science and technology, forestry
and faculties of social sciences and humanities, management, education and law.
Tribhuvan University also hosts four think tanks.



The university has 65 integral colleges and more than 200 affiliated colleges
throughout the country.

Kathmandu University was started in 1991 with the motto "Quality Education for
Leadership". The University operates through its six Schools of Science,
Engineering, Management, Arts, Education and Medical sciences. The University is
operating from premises at Dhulikhel, Kathmandu and Bhaktapur.



As of 2000, the present number of students enrolled in Kathmandu University is
about 1268 and the number of students enrolled in the affiliated colleges are
2072.



Kathmandu University Medical School (KUMS) is one of the undergraduate
schools of Kathmandu University. It is located in Kavrepalanchok District,
Nepal. KUMS has about 221 students in the M.B.B.S. program.


Establishment

The school was conceptualized by joint efforts of Dr.Arjun Karki, Kathmandu
University and Dhulikhel Hospital. It was established in 2001 in association
with B and B Hospital, Scheer Memorial Hospital and Hospital and Rehabilitation
Center for Disabled Children.



Aims and objectives


The school is a non-profit organization with a motto of producing "technically
competent and socially responsible" doctors. The main focus of the organization
is to improve the health status of Nepal.
